Back in Black
As a non competitive lifter was reluctant to spend this much on a bar. But in comparison to the bog standard hexbolt bar I've been using my reluctance soon evaporated. Nice knurling, not too sharp or soft. Sleeves have a nice amount of spin and don't rattle like my old bar. Solid build and a worthwhile investment. Strengthshop have knocked it out of the park again. Good except the knurling issue
When I first got this out of the box the only thing that really did aggravate me was that the knurling is different on each side. At exactly in the middle of the central knurling it goes from a medium/soft knurling to a very sharp knurling almost instantly and is like that all the way to collar meaning there is a very noticeable difference. I just wish it was the same knurling all the way along (would prefer the more aggressive knurling tbh), I can only imagine something went wrong in the process, would have thought it would have been checked as it really is very noticeable. Anyway I have been prepping for a meet and being a little kid at heart, just wanted to play with my new toy rather than sending it back. I've grown use to it and as a bar as a whole it is really good for the money, it's been dropped onto safety bars with 180kg loaded from a failed squat at half way and is straight as a die. All round good bar for everything I have thrown at it (210s/250d/180b). Review by Harry / (Posted on 03/04/2015)
Great Bar
I bought this bar to use in my local lockup gym as all the bars are bent and I'm prepping for the British powerlifting champs this year. It is a great bar - a good amount of flex but not whip like a weightlifting bar which is exactly how the best powerlifting bars feel. The sleeves turn really smoothly and seem really durable. The knurling isn't so aggressive that it's going to tear the hands up but no problem gripping and ripping. A great all round solid powerlifting bar and addition to the strengthshop range.
